Isofix Baby & Child Car Seats

ISOFIX stands for "International Standards Organisation FIX". It is a standard for installing child seats into cars and is intended eliminate incorrect fitting and also make fitting child seats quick and simple. Most modern cars have ISOfix anchor points in plac, however you will need to check you manufacturers handbook for confirmation. All new car models produced since early 2006 have been required by law to be fitted with 'Universal' ISOFIX anchorages; however there is a slight loophole for on-going models. For example a VW Golf has been produced for many years therefore by law this vehicle doesn't require Isofix to be fitted, so again check your vehicle. To be 'Universal' ISOFIX requires three anchorage points - two Isofix points and either a foot prop or top teacher. Child seats with two-point ISOFIX will have been tested and approved for use in specific car models and will come with a model application list.
