Your choice of twin pram or double buggy will depend on two factors; whether you are looking for a twin pram that will be suitable for two newborns or a baby and toddler. If you are expecting twins you would be looking for a pram that would have either lie flat seat units, carrycots or car seats, although relying solely on two car seats to give you a from birth option is not ideal, a lie flat seat unit or carrycot would be preferable.
Twin Prams
Twin prams tend to be tandem in style with one seat unit in front of another with either a pram handle to umbrella handle. As already discussed most twin prams are suitable for one new born and one toddler an ideal pram if you are expecting a second child. There are not too many twin prams that have two seats that are suitable from birth; most have one from-birth seat unit and a second seat that is suitable from six months, although there are a few models that we can recommend. We particularly like the Bebecar Vector Duo this twin pram has two from-birth seat units that can face in either direction and can also take a car seat or carrycot. The advantage of twin prams is that they are narrow and easy to manoeuvre as well as easy to get through narrow doorways or shop entrances; however they are quite bulky when folded.
Double Buggies
Double buggies offer more choice and versatility with most models being suitable from birth with independent folding seats. Most if not all buggy manufacturers offer a double buggy from Chicco and Cosatto to Silver Cross all offer great function and design. The design on these double buggies are quite similar with not too much to separate one manufacturer from another, however the styling and fabrics are unique with Cosatto having the most personality of all the brands with bright and quirky designs. Silver Cross offers classic and stylish fabrics in classic colourways that offer timeless elegance. Chicco's style is typically Italian with clean design and bright colours. The advantage of double buggies is that they are easy to fold and quite compact however their width does make them a little difficult to manoeuvre in narrow aisles in shops or around busy towns.
Double Prams
Many double prams are large and impractical for today's modern parents, the double pram tends to have a large chassis with two independent seat units that can parent face or forward face. The offers a great environment for your little ones, but means the double pram is difficult to fold and not particularly compact when folded. In general instead of looking at double prams we would suggest looking at twin prams instead.
