Lie Flat Car Seats
This category includes lie flat car seats suitable from birth to 10kgs. There are two recommended lie flat car seats which we prefer - he Jane Matrix and the Britax BabySafe Sleeper. Research has suggested that lay flat car seats are preferable to traditional rear facing infant carriers that can cause restrictions in breathing and also digestion. Therefore for premature babies and newborns a lie flat position is recommended.
Baby Car Seats
Baby car seats or infant carriers are suitable from birth to 13 kgs and always rear facing. There are now many options for installing your chosen infant carrier these range from the standard lap and diagonal seat belt method, but also many baby car seats have the option of a belted base or an Isofix base. These two base options not only provide convenience but also reduce the risk on incorrect fitting common in many car seats installations.
Forward Facing Car Seats
This category covers group 1 car seats suitable from 9 to 18 kgs which is approximately 9 months to 4 years. The are many options in this class of car seat, however the main consideration should be the suitability of the seat for the vehicle. group 1 car seats have a range of features depending on the make and model, these include multiple recline positions, adjustable head support, quick release fabric covers and internal belt tensioners for easy installation. Rear Facing Car Seats
We stock a range of rear facing car seats that are proven to be safer in a forward collision. These car seats range from group 0+1, group 1 and Group 1+2. Or in other words from birth to 18 kgs, 9-18kgs or 9-25kgs. Some of these car seats are rear facing only, however there are some that will also forward face. Isofix Car Seats
Isofix car seats are a safer choice for modern cars fitted with Isofix due to the reduction in incorrect fitting when compared to belted installations. Isofix provides a simple way to install your car seat via two isofix bayonets. An isofix car seat may also need a footprop or a top teather. Please check your vehicle hand book for more information on the correct Isofix installation for your car.
Combination car seats
Combination car seats cover more than one weight classification. For example 0+1 or 1-2-3. In the first case this is a rear facing infant carrier suitable from birth to 13kgs, also this car seat can be forward facing from 9-18 kgs. These car seats tend to be bigger than a traditional infant carrier and not portable. The second type is suitable from 9kgs to 36kgs or from approximately 9 months to 12 years. These can be an economical choice for some parents or a practical choice for grandparents who look after children of more than one age.
Highback Booster Seats
This class of car seat is suitable from 15kgs to 36kgs and uses the vehicle's own lap and diagonal seat belt. This type of seat is designed to boost the child up to allow them to use an adult seat belt whilst maintaining side impact protection.<< Read Less
