Introducing the latest addition to the Kidfix family; the Kidfix III S! Suitable from roughly 3.5 to 12 years of age (or 15-36 kgs), the Kidfix III S is packed full of safety features to keep your little one protected on the road, all wrapped up in a comfy, ergonomic seat.
The Kidfix III S comes with many of the same features as previous Kidfix models, however the latest reboot also features a new XP Pad, which is essentially a shock-absorbing foam pad positioned around the seat belt where it sits across your child's chest. The main reason for this new design is that the XP Pad can absorb up to a whopping 30% of impact force in the event of a front-on collision! Given the Kidfix III S is designed to be used forward-facing, this is a really handy feature when it comes to protecting your child. What's more, the XP Pad can also help to prevent your child's chin from hitting their chest during this type of accident, can prevent their head from jerking forwards, and pads the seat belt so that there's less risk of it cutting into your little one if you have to brake suddenly. That's a lot of extra safety from one small feature!
As with most Britax seats, the Kidfix III S is of course fitted with the super-safe SICT (Side Impact Cushioning Technology) system. This works by minimising the gap between your child's seat and the door closest to them, effectively putting itself in between your child and any side-impact force that would occur in a side-on collision, absorbing that force away from your little passenger before it reaches them and reducing it down to a safer level. It's super easy to use, simply unscrew it from the side of the headrest nearest to the door and you're good to go!
Another important safety feature to mention is the SecureGuard technology, which holds the seat belt in the optimum position to reduce the chance of injury to your little one's abdomen during an accident. The SecureGuard works by creating an additional 4th point of contact instead of the standard 3 created by the 3-point seat belt, which helps to disperse the force exerted on your child in a head-on collision, and is even proven to reduce abdominal forces by up to 35%! The Kidfix III S highback booster also offers head to hip protection, which is particularly useful in side-on collisions, and features an extra padded headrest for superior neck and head protection.
In terms of comfort, the Britax Kidfix III S is one of the most comfortable on the market, with an ergonomic shape and design that supports your child completely as they grow. To start with, the seating area is approximately 20% larger than similar models, while an improved shape and extra padding make it super comfy for children of all ages and sizes - perfect for growing kids! The adjustable V-shaped backrest leaves plenty of room for your child's shoulders and back as they develop, and sits flush against your vehicle's seat for a more natural and comfortable fit.
The headrest can also be adjusted easily with one hand to suit your growing child, and features an ergonomic design that helps support their head if they have a tendency to fall asleep in the car. This can prevent their head from flopping forward and out of the 'safety zone'. Remember to always position your little one's headrest just above their shoulders to ensure they're properly protected and supported.
